Every Seat has a Story
In the Top 100 pieces of ArtPrize 2012!!!
Located at John Ball Zoo at 1300 West Fulton Street in Grand Rapids, MI.

And this one has a pretty good story...

Made of White Pine from Howard City, MI, this piece is part of Michigan. It is my own story and struggle. It contains the measures I've taken to rediscover my own dreams and passions.  Its the story of Grand Rapids, of a tree, of my children and my parents and my life.  This piece follows the whole story.

Shel Silverstein wrote in his poem, The Giving Tree, "'I don’t need very much now,' said the boy. 'Just a quiet place to sit and rest. I am very tired.' 'Well,' said the tree, straightening herself up as much as she could, 'well, an old stump is good for sitting and resting.  Come, Boy, sit down.  Sit down and rest.' And the boy did. And the tree was happy."

Silverstein, Shel. The Giving Tree. New York: Harper and Row, 1964.

This piece is a tree and it has become a place for sitting and resting, but this process is my own story - the story of  becoming myself again.
